We are seeking a dynamic Senior Technical Officer/Engineer to join our School of Engineering and Technology at CQUniversity. This pivotal role offers the chance to support school-based teaching, research, and commercial activities while managing laboratory facilities, equipment, and fostering a safe and collaborative environment.
You will oversee the management and maintenance of dedicated laboratory spaces, provide expert guidance and instruction to staff and students and ensure the safe and efficient use of laboratory facilities and equipment. You will also be responsible for supporting the development and performance of the laboratory support team, mentoring staff, and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

Position Requirements
- A relevant degree (or equivalent experience) with at least four years of subsequent, relevant technical experience.
- In-depth knowledge of laboratory standards, codes, and regulations, along with extensive technical expertise in your field.
- Proven experience in managing laboratory facilities, including the planning, calibration, and maintenance of equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to a wide range of audiences.
- Leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and developing team members to perform at their best.
- A current C Class Driver’s Licence.
- A current Electrical Licence is advantageous.
- The ability to work in a ‘hearing protection use area’ and complete baseline audiometric testing as part of health and safety compliance.
