The Finance Directorate is responsible for maintaining CQUniversity’s financial integrity, including accounting, taxation, insurance, and oversight of subsidiary companies, while providing expert financial advice and support across faculties and divisions.

As a key member of the Financial Accounting Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the University’s financial reporting and compliance framework. Your primary responsibilities will include preparing and analysing monthly and annual financial statements, managing reconciliations, providing guidance on taxation and legislative requirements, and supporting subsidiary companies in understanding and presenting their financial results.

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented professional with extensive accounting experience and strong expertise in Australian Accounting Standards. You will apply your technical knowledge to deliver accurate financial insights and contribute to system and process improvements, while consistently maintaining a high standard of service.

Position Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, including preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation legislation, and relevant regulatory frameworks (higher education or public sector experience desirable).
• Proven experience managing Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST) obligations, including preparing returns and interpreting legislation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide insights.
• High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools.
