An exciting new opportunity has become available within the Students Directorate. As Manager, Student Advising – International, you will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of culturally responsive, student-centred advising services that support international students from transition and settlement through to academic progression, engagement, retention and completion. You will play a key role in shaping a consistent, connected and proactive approach to international student support across the University.

 

Working collaboratively with the Students Directorate, International Directorate, academic schools and central units, you will drive coordinated initiatives such as Orientation, proactive communications and targeted retention strategies. You will build capability, foster a high-performing culture and embed best-practice advising frameworks that respond to the diverse needs of our international student community. Your ability to interpret data, monitor key performance indicators and apply insights will inform service enhancements and support compliance with ESOS and related regulatory requirements.

Position Requirements

 

  • Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications, with extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • Extensive experience delivering student-focused services and initiatives, including student advising, operational planning, program delivery, engagement and culturally informed support across the student lifecycle.
  • Highly developed communication, consultation, negotiation and influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and create inclusive environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing geographically dispersed teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, wellbeing and high performance.
  • Knowledge of the Australian higher education and international education sectors, including ESOS and CRICOS frameworks, with an understanding of the unique experience and cultural considerations for international students (Desirable).
