CQUniversity is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to a cutting-edge, grant-funded project focused on intelligent IoT/Drone-assisted precision weed management.

 

Our  School of Engineering and Technology focuses on applied research in mechatronics, automation, machine learning, and smart systems. It partners with industry to deliver impactful solutions, including drone-based precision agriculture, while fostering a supportive, research-driven environment ideal for postdoctoral researchers tackling real-world challenges.

 

This role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic research team, advancing expertise in drone navigation, image processing, and mechatronics. You’ll contribute to the design, development, and field testing of an intelligent drone-based weed management system, including CAD design, prototype fabrication, data analysis, and stakeholder collaboration—delivering real-world impact through innovative agricultural technology.

Position Requirements

 

  • A doctoral degree in Computing, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with experience in drone navigation, image processing, machine learning, IoT, and Python programming.
  • Strong research skills including problem-solving, project management and reporting, modelling/simulation, and preparation of technical documentation.
  • Communication and integration of Internet of Drones (IoD) and Internet of Things (IoT) systems, including GPS mapping enabled by image processing.
  • Research experience and/or contribution which has resulted in publications, conference papers, reports or professional or technical contributions which give evidence of research potential. (Desirable)
