CQUniversity is a place where your work really matters.  We are seeking a passionate professional to join our friendly Safer Communities team to play a key role in delivering university-wide health promotion initiatives that aim to prevent all forms of gender-based violence, including sexual violence, and domestic and family violence.  Working closely with the Safer Communities Coordinator and the wider Wellbeing Directorate, you will collaboratively facilitate, trauma-informed campaigns and events that support safety, inclusion, and student wellbeing across all campuses and cohorts.

 

Working within a collaborative team that includes Wellbeing, Counselling, and Inclusion and Equity, you will refer students and engage with Safer Communities on appropriate support options, including CQUniversity Student Support services and external social, health and welfare agencies. Referring incidents and notifying relevant university stakeholders about conduct or safety matters requiring formal attention.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Supporting the delivery of health promotion campaigns and workshops on topics like sexual consent, bystander intervention, healthy relationships, and STI prevention.
  • Acting as a visible presence for Safer Communities across campuses through events and outreach activities.
  • Referring and connecting students to appropriate support services with professionalism and care.
  • Supporting the evaluation and continuous improvement of programs using data, feedback, and national best practice guidelines.
  • Assisting in the development and review of annual project plans aligned with national legislation and policy frameworks.

Position Requirements

 

  • A degree in a relevant field OR an associate diploma with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with mental health or wellbeing concerns, preferably in an education or community setting.
  • Sound understanding of equity, inclusion, and social justice principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse student populations and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Confidence in navigating complex student situations with empathy, professionalism, and a trauma-informed approach.
  • A commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, and continual improvement.
  • You must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Blue Card (Working with Children Check) in compliance with the Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000.
