CQUniversity’s School of Trades is seeking a strategic and experienced vocational education leader to join us as Deputy Dean VET – Learning and Teaching.
The School delivers training across Electrical, Instrumentation, Automotive, Engineering, Mechanical, Industrial, Construction, and Building Services – supporting apprentices and industry across the region and beyond.
Reporting to the Associate Dean, this senior leadership position drives excellence in learning and teaching across the School. You will oversee curriculum quality, drive educator capability, and ensure delivery is industry-aligned, compliant and future-focused.
In this position, you will:
- Lead, develop and support educators to deliver high-quality, industry-relevant learning and teaching resources.
- Work in close partnership with the Deputy Dean VET – Operations on planning, workforce capability, compliance, and performance outcomes.
- Strengthen teaching practice, student support strategies and overall course performance.
- Oversee curriculum design and drive dynamic, flexible and industry-responsive training delivery.
- Lead course review, assessment validation and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure compliance with national and state VET standards, ASQA requirements and University policy.
- Collaborate across the University to enhance student satisfaction, progression, retention and completion.
You will also provide strong people leadership – mentoring staff, leading performance conversations, allocating workload, and building a culture of accountability and professional growth.

Position Requirements
- Strong understanding of national and state VET frameworks, ASQA standards, audit expectations and University policies.
- Relevant qualification in teaching, education or leadership appropriate to the position.
- Extensive experience in vocational education and training, including leadership across multiple program areas.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, course development, assessment validation and quality assurance within the Australian VET regulatory environment.
- Proven ability to lead and develop staff, including coaching, performance, and capability uplift.
- Capacity to undertake travel as required.
- Successful assessment of a Fit and Proper Person Declaration under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator (Compliance Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations and Fit and Proper Person Requirements) Instrument 2025.
