- Research Officer: Total Remuneration $112,141 to $132,833 pa (including salary of $94,761 to $112,246 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)
- Senior Research Officer: Total Remuneration $138,968 to $161,953 pa (including salary of $117,430 to $136,853 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)

Precision Livestock Management (PLM) at CQUniversity sits within the Institute for Future Farming Systems and focuses on improving livestock productivity, profitability, sustainability and animal welfare through the application of data, sensing technologies and industry‑embedded research. PLM works closely with producers and industry partners to translate innovation into practical, on‑farm outcomes across northern Australian beef systems.
We’re seeking a dedicated and motivated research‑focused individual to contribute to an industry‑led project aimed at improving cattle weaning outcomes in northern beef enterprises. This position involves hands‑on field research across Queensland and the Northern Territory, working closely with producers, veterinarians and consultants. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering field‑based research, surveillance and sampling activities, managing data and contributing to analysis and reporting – bridging rigorous applied research with real‑world decision‑making across Australia’s largest and most dynamic beef production region.

Position Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture, animal science, veterinary science or a related discipline.
- Practical experience in beef cattle handling and management within a commercial production setting or comparable livestock research environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver applied research, including field‑based data collection, surveillance, sampling, analysis and interpretation.
- Experience coordinating research activities under commercial livestock production conditions.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with producers, veterinarians, consultants and other external stakeholders.
- Experience managing research data and contributing to technical reporting and dissemination of project outcomes.
- A proactive, organised and self‑driven approach, with the ability to exercise sound judgement and work with a high level of autonomy while meeting project timelines and compliance requirements.
Additional Position Requirements for a Senior Research Officer
- A doctoral qualification or extensive research experience.
- Research experience demonstrated through publications, technical reports or professional or technical contributions.
