As our Safety and Wellbeing Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with legislation. Leading a small team of Safety Specialists, we provide advice and support across multiple state jurisdictions to our campuses across Australia.
Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:
Expert Guidance: Provide expert advice to ensure that legislative obligations are clearly understood and practically implemented. Your risk management approach will drive safety excellence across the organisation. Provide timely advice and assistance to all staff, from risk management to incident investigation. Your leadership expertise will empower our team to excel.
Business Continuity & Crisis Management: Manage our University’s Business Continuity and Crisis Management activities. Your strategic thinking will help us navigate any challenges that come our way.
International Travel Risk Assessment: Monitor and conduct International Travel Risk Assessment and Approvals through our partnership with International SOS. Your vigilance will keep our global travellers safe.
Mental Health Strategy: Collaborate with our Counselling and Wellbeing Team to develop and implement the Mindwaves Mental Health Strategy. Your compassion and vision will contribute to a mentally healthy culture.
Health and Safety Standards: Lead the development and implementation of health and safety standards, plans, policies, and procedures. Your attention to detail will ensure the wellbeing of our entire community.
Communication and Awareness: Develop communication strategies and awareness campaigns for staff and students. Your clear messaging will empower everyone to embrace their roles and responsibilities regarding health and safety.
Collaboration: Foster cooperative and collaborative relationships with managers and employees across the University.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Recognised qualifications in Work Health Safety (WHS) with significant high-level experience in this specialist area.
- Demonstrated abilities in implementing WHS strategies and positively influencing safety outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, positive working relationships.
- Proven ability to juggle diverse risk portfolios with a solutions-driven approach.
