We are currently seeking expressions of interest from local Rockhampton Medical Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners to join our academic team as a Specialist Guest Speaker, to share your knowledge and experience with our students studying the Master of Paramedic Science (Primary Healthcare Practice) during our Rockhampton residential school in October 2024. The master's students are experienced paramedics learning comprehensive clinical management and skills, with a focus on primary healthcare practice.

 

Your expression of interest will remain valid until the end of 2024. You will only be contacted if appropriate casual work becomes available whilst your application is active.

What's involved

Residential schools are focused on translating underpinning knowledge into practice. Sessions include:

 

  • Comprehensive neurological assessment (cranial nerve assessment and reflexes, eye and ear examination etc.)
  • Comprehensive cardiac assessment (incl. heart sounds, JVP, central line management etc.)
  • Comprehensive respiratory assessment
  • Limb assessment
  • Wound management (LA, ring blocks, wound closure skills)
  • Other clinical skills (such as indwelling catheter management, PEG tube problem solving, etc)

 

The sessions are conducted with a small group (around 3 students) and are practically focused. We are seeking a commitment of 2-4 hours per session over 1-3 days, but this is negotiable and flexible based on your availability.

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional Qualifications as a Medical Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current Professional Registration
  • Relevant Work Experience
