As an Indigenous Support Programs Officer, you’ll be the steady hand and trusted guide helping Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students access the tools, programs, and opportunities that help them thrive at university. From scholarships and the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Program (ITAP), you’ll be the connector who ensures students feel seen, supported, and empowered throughout their academic journey.
In this dynamic position, you’ll work closely with students, staff, and academic teams to deliver high‑quality support services with cultural integrity and care. Your days will be filled with meaningful interactions—responding to student enquiries, coordinating ITAP tutors, promoting scholarship opportunities, supporting events, and keeping essential systems and processes running smoothly. You’ll also play a key role in shaping new initiatives, improving workflows, and contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture.

Position Requirements
- Demonstrated experience delivering high‑level administrative support, including implementing streamlined processes, managing competing priorities, and maintaining accuracy in a fast‑paced office environment.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with proven ability to draft a range of professional documentation with attention to detail provide accurate advice and information to others, and build effective relationships.
- Strong customer service capability, supported by an understanding of the needs of a culturally diverse university community and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, web‑based systems, and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, with the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of university policies, procedures, and relevant higher education legislation.
- Proven organisational, time‑management and problem‑solving abilities, showing initiative and a collaborative approach to achieving team goals and meeting deadlines.
