Position Requirements

 

As the Jilbay RHD Academy Officer, you will provide a broad range of administrative support and developing policies and procedures associated with the Jilbay Research High Degree Academy.  You will work in close partnerships with First Nations RHD Students and their respective supervisors to enhance the student experience.  This will include working collaboratively with other work areas, schools and academic support units to increase and maintain retention and graduation rates of Jilbay RHD students. 

 

The Jilbay RHD Academy Officer will work within the Office of Indigenous Engagement (OIE) and will require a high level of cultural capabiity, administrative skillls and knowledge including:

  • An understanding of the OIE vision to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's knowledge and cultures are recognised, respected, celebrated and valued. 
  • An informed, authentic and respectful understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, including ethical research and policy matters related to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. 
  • The capability to incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' voices, experiences and perspectives in all of our work.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively within this environment. 
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills that demonstrate a strong focus on the provision of quality customer service. 
  • Knowledge and proficiency to effectively learn and operate University operating systems, for example FinanceOne, StudentOne, MS Office Suite and Moodle and business support software including word processing, spreadsheeting, database systems and email.
  • Proven ability to organise work, meet deadlines and resolve problems with minimal supervision and coordinate projects where required. 
  • Proven time management and problem solving skills with demonstrated initiative and ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team based work environment.
